CHILDREN AND YOUTH FROM THE TERRITORY OF THE SOVIET UNION. CHILDREN AND YOUTH REGISTERED IN AUSCHWITZ AS SOVIET PRISONERS OF WAR

Child and minor inmates were transported to KL Auschwitz not only from Poland but also from the territories of the former Soviet Union, mainly Belarusian, Russian, and Ukrainian.

The first Russian children arrived in Auschwitz as early as October 1941, when a fictitious camp was set up for Soviet prisoners of war. A study of the preserved files and personal records of the POWs shows that they included two boys of 11 years, one of 15, and three of 16. They were killed after a very short stay in the camp, before the end of 1941.
